nursing

I got into the nursing program, so that is really exciting. But i am already scared just because of all the things i need to do before even starting. the schedule itself for next year doesn't look too bad though. Wish me luck!!

blackboard.

I just got really worried for a little bit, i got confused about which tests i had to do this weekend, i have a stats test and a med term test. But blackboard is not working right now, so i was getting really scared because i thought that I had a patho test too, so i was freaking out. but I got it figured out, and luckily my other tests are available all weekend so i have lots of time.

texting

o and i forgot to put this in, but when we were talking about the blogging before class you asked me if i texted when i said that the blogging was alot of blogging. Ha i was actually texting under my desk right when you asked that. I have a few friends that text me alot. I try not to text during class, but if i don't at least look at the test then it vibrates in my pocket all class and it gets really annoying.

blogs

So in the last class on wednesday we were talking about extra credit blogging again, and you mentioned that it is only one blog a week. But I remember that that was what I thought at the beginning of the blogging, but then I thought it was 10 a week, so anyway, long story short. I am confused on how much to blog. o well i will still just blog about as much as i can. I went over a week without blogging which was not good. During that week i had ideas in my mind to blog about, but since i never did, now I can't remember. So that sucks. I just need to get brainstorming.

the last test

i forgot to blog about the last test. I did pretty well. I got a high B i think. Which I am pretty pleased with considering the first few tests i was getting C's. I am glad that I have been doing better. I studyed with shannon again, she did about the same as me she said, i think a little better, but that is goog.

10 years?

In class there was a disease you were talking about that has blood in the urine, and you said that the blood starts soon after you get it. But the major symptoms of the disease don't start until 10 to 15 years after you get the disease... but what confuses me is who pees blood for over 10 years without getting that checked out. seems pretty odd to me.

friday

i missed class last friday too, but that one wasn't on purpose, it was me be stupid and forgetting to set my alarm. Normally I still would've woken up on time, but for some reason I slept way too much.

last wednesday

i skipped class last wednesday. I had an important test in micro-biology so i skipped all my morning classes so i could study. But i still haven't seen how i did yet..

well shoot

i forgot to get the notes for the class on wednesday, so i just had to sit there and listen, but that is not bad, most of the stuff i would be writing for notes will end up on your lecture note outline. And when i am not taking notes i can "absorb" more information,....i hope.

resp

thank goodness you brought notes for the first part of the respiration lecture because i forgot to get them, i will have to remember to get the notes before next class period. but today was a good class because i remember quite a bit about some of the respiratory stuff, and that always helps.

test

so i finally did good on a test!! i got a 90 percent i think it was. I studied alot so i am glad that it finally paid off. i do feel kinda bad though cause i studied with my friend shannon and this was the worst test she has had so far this year. so that is weird that this was the first test we studied for together and she did no as good but i did my best by far.

friend and family

Today in the respiratory disease class we talked about a few conditions that people that I know have. Knowing someone who has the condition makes it alot easier to visualize and know the problems and symptoms of the condition. I have a few different friends who have the condition where the sternum in connected to the spine, and my uncle had that last disease, i can't remember what it was called, but knowing people with these diseases helps alot.

class today

Class today felt like it went really well for me. I am not sure if you changed anything or are doing anything different, but the way the information and slides were set up made it really easy for me to follow and take notes on the respiratory diseases. Or maybe i just payed attention more today for some reason, i am not sure but it was good.

vericose veins

my mother has vericose veins on her calf and they are pretty weird looking. anyway. i was just curious what the surgery was for fixing those? it says on her slides that you can get surgery to fix them, how would that work? i just can't think of what you would do if you got in there with a knife? and also are they dangerous at all? i am just a little worried, i will ask my mom a guess..

asymptomatic

what confuses me sometimes is when the signs and symptoms of a disease is kinda contradictory. like for hypertension it says that it is asympotmatic, but is also says, nocturia, headache, blurred vision. I know that sometimes some people have no symptoms, so would that just mean that there hypertension is just not as severe? or some people are just lucky (or unlucky) and don't display symptoms with some conditions.?

elevated st segment

there was another question about what test would not help if you suspected a MI, i think the answer is elevated bp because your bp would lower in an mi, (its kinda fun using all these abreviations) anyway, one that would help was an elevated st segment, which confuses me. the st is the rest period, so if it was elevated would it mean that the heart is not resting as much, resting more, or that the rest period lasts longer? the wording just confuses me a bit.

ishema

there was another confusing difference on the study guide, i can't remember for sure but i think it asked what chest pain due to ischemia of the myocardium is and angina pectoralis and myocardial infarction were both possible answers. i could very possibly be wrong but i kinda thought that they were both caused by that. i put angina pectoralis for some reason, i hope that is right.

pictures,

some of the pictures on, uh, the other teacher(i can't remember her name right now) but some of the pictures on her slide show are helpful, like the cartoony pictures. i don't want to sound rude or anything but sometimes when you have actual pictures of body parts they all just look gross and i can't tell the difference between anything. i know we need to get used to seeing body parts but sometimes the cartoon ones are helpful for learning, for me at least.

ateriosclerosis.

so there was a question on the study guide and i think the answer was either arteriosclerosis or artherosclerosis, but i am not sure which, and they are both very similar. so i just hope there aren't any questions on the test about them. on some web sites when you look up arteriosclerosis it has in () artherosclerosis right next to it showing that they are actually the same thing, so, yeah, they are just really confusing if we need to know the difference between the two.

videos

watching those videos helped quite a bit, they are really long and i actually wasn't watching most of the time, i was just listening while i did other things. but they did seem to help me get a few ideas into my head. i did zone out and not pay attention sometimes though, it took me almost 5 minutes to realize that i was listening to a 10 minute break.

test

so i was studying today and thinking of taking the test but decided to wait until tomorrow so that i can study a bit more tomorrow. but the thing that usually happens is that i don't end up studying more and end up just forgetting more. so it usually backfires, but i really hope i do it this time.

scary

Tampanads scare the hell out of me. I work out quite a bit like running, biking, lifting, swimming, basketball, pretty much everything, and sometimes especially with biking and running my heart rate gets really high, I never really thought about it before, but now that I know that the pressure can cause a crack and have my heart just leak blood and die. yeah that is scary. My uncle does marathons around oregon and during one marathon he was in a man died in the race. I am not sure why, but next time I talk to that uncle I am going to see if it was something like that.

this week

I am pretty worried about this up coming week. My biggest problem is actually getting around to doing stuff. Like making myself actually watch the lectures online will be really hard for me to do. It is tough for me to do anything on a computer that is supposed to be learning involved, I do much better reading notes. When I am on the computer I have way too many distractions, so I really need to focus this next week.

new strategy

so this last class period I tried a new strategy where I didn't write down anything, I just tried really hard to pay attention and focus and actually hear what you were saying. I think it went pretty well. I have a very short attention span so normally in pretty much every class I don't really retain any information, but I think I did pretty well on friday.

studying

I just thought I would let you know that I am studying the Cardiovascular Disease. Not that that is really exciting, but this is the first time I can remember studying for something when the test is more than a week away. Or even a few days actually. I never knew until now that the lecture notes and the slideshow were different, so hopefully that will help a lot with the next test. Wow turns out that I listen to some weird music when I study. I am listening to a mix of Disney music(lion king, mulan, and aladdin) and video game music. ha weird.
