it has been a long while since I last posted, work started this week and I will probably work around 60-64 hours this week. A lot of it has been long and boring, but that is really usual since the first week or two is just safety and some classes and fire refresher, defensive driving, meeting, stuff like that.
But this weekend we got an opportunity to help another zone on our forest with some prescribed fires, which is awesome cause it gives us overtime, and we can start to get used to hiking again, just getting used to it and getting our feet and boots broken in for a couple days is great. having to break in your muscles and feet on a real fire is pretty rough especially if it is a big one where you hike a ton. So this is pretty handy.
My workouts have been a little all over the place cause we have been working out at work and I have been a little at home, and hiking is really tough too. I am not going to go into too much depth with the workouts, just list them pretty much.
On monday we had the pack test, which is 3 miles with a 45 pound pack, I did it not really fast but with good pace in 36 minutes. Then later we did as many pushups in a minute, 70, and situps, 74. then we weren't able to use the college track cause lots of people were on it, so we just did some aerobic stuff instead.
On Tuesday we did the 85lb pack test, 3 miles, I did it in 44 minutes. Later we did a 3 mile run.
On Wednesday I can't remember what we did, I think just some pullups, but I did pullups and cleans later when I got home.
On Thursday we finished the Fit Test with the mile and a half run, I did it in 7:53, which is a new base record, so I was pretty pleased with that, beating my old boss Jason's record of 8:08 has been my training goal for most of this spring, so that was really cool. Then we did a 3 mile run later.
On Friday we did a 6 mile run, then lots of stretching later.
Saturday was overtime burning for prescribed burns, which is a day of mostly hiking around, and I was really beat afterwards. Today looks to be more of the same.
I think that is about it for workouts
I like my new crew quite a bit, I wish in general that they worked harder sometimes during pt, but that is okay, I will do my own thing and work as hard as I need too. But just as far as getting along with everyone I think it is a really fun crew, and I am really excited to get started learning some actual rappelling stuff, well got to go to work.

weird feeling, internet, rocky. the gdstudio
So yesterday I came back to la grande, got everything hooked up for my internet and now I am going solid. I would try to take some pictures of my apartment to put up here, but it is kinda cloudy and my apartment doesn't have much light in it. yesterday was a day off of lifting. today was an easy day.
I have been watching this great channel on twitch, it shows like 4 different games with Starcraft 2 being the main game, plus the people casting and putting the shows together are just random gaming guys who just hang out and love playing and talking about games, so it is very entertaining for me.

If you like playing or watching sc2, dota2, bloodline champions, or quake live, you should check it out.
My Workout:
Am run, longer than usual, probably almost 3 miles.
Midday I ran about a mile and a half interval run. slow jogging one block, then running two fast.
then I did just a bunch of ab moves from this random blog I ran into.
http://2012lastfatyear.blogspot.com/2012/01/300-challenge-ab-core-workout.html
just a pretty good core workout. then I did some planks.
Just taking it slow today as the rest of this week is going to be focussing on recovering and getting ready for the fit test on monday.
I love training montages. I am watching rocky 2, its at the montage right after Adrian wakes up from the coma and tells rocky to go win. I wish that was my job sometimes. Just were the main thing I had to worry about was training as hard as I can. But to do that you either have to be a model, actor, or fighter, and I can't fight or act well enough for any of those jobs, which I guess is why I am still doing fire fighting. Part of our job day is devoted to working out, so that is one of the main reasons I like the job so much.
When I got done with today's workout I felt weird. It is just odd when I have been working out so hard recently and at the end of today's workout, the first thing that popped in my head was, okay that was a good warmup, now what. so I am just in this weird conflicted feeling where I really want to workout more, but I know that my body needs more rest, but when I don't workout very hard I feel really lazy, so I am just in a weird mood now.
I watched the first rocky last night, It is one of my all time favorite movies, it is exciting, inspiring, awkward, funny, and like I said, I love training montages.
The second one I don't think is as good, it has all the same things, but just more filler stuff, like when they get married in the middle, he does the commercials, his training is weak, he is just hanging out. The filler stuff in the first one was more exciting cause it was more of him trying to overcome his own self doubt, in this one, it just feels like random filler scenes. well the fight scene is about to start, so I am gonna watch more and blog less.
