Work/School/Halo

So I haven't blogged in a very long time, once again, I always start like this saying I haven't blogged in a long time and I plan to start doing it more. No promises, but we will see.
Anyway, Work is the first title of my blog today. I doubt anyone has read most of my blogs, but the last 5 years I have been working as a Wildland Firefighter, last year I worked on a Firefighter Rappell Crew. It was very fun. I loved rappelling, most of the people were awesome, I liked the bosses I had, but I did find out one very important thing. I have decided that firefighting is not going to be my career. I don't have much of a future in firefighting. I was on this crew as a rookie rappeller, there were people on the crew who had been on that crew for as long as I have been firefighting period who were looking for permanent jobs... They have been firefighting for 8+ years and looking for a permanent job. I don't want a seasonal job anymore. I want something permanent and something with benefits and medical and all that adult stuff that you need when you grow up. I started going to school at Eastern Oregon University, which I initially did just to keep my credits adding up so that hopefully I will graduate eventually. Then, talking to my advisor it turns out that if I had kept only going to school one term at a time it would take me 4-5 years to graduate, I have already been going off and on for 4-5 years, that is not good enough. So she and I looked at all my credits and possibilities and found that if I go to school full time I can graduate by next spring. So I had to make the decision to not firefight this year in order to go to school full time. It was a really tough decision to make, now I need to find a new job and money over the next year is going to be more tight, but my wife and I decided it was best for the future. So inadvertently I just hit on my second topic of school, my degree would be in Physical Activity and Health, which I don't have a specific plan for what I want to do with that, but I love exercising and learning more about health, fitness, and nutrition, so I like the classes and hopefully it can lead me to a job that I will like. Speaking of jobs, one option that my wife and I have looked into quite a bit is joining the Air Force after I graduate. It is a very real option and I will be weighing it out with different possibilities over the next year.
Now to talk on my last topic for today is Halo. I have always loved Halo. The most fun times I have had in my life is at a lan party of Halo: CE with 15 of my friends, so much fun. Xbox live is fun, not as fun but still good especially since my friends have all moved around so we can't all get in the same town very often. But I have been playing more halo online, mostly by myself because my friends have started getting into other things. Because I have been playing by myself I have recently decided that I want to get a little more involved in the community of halo online, So I may look into getting some equipment so that I will be able to put up halo videos and stream and stuff like not. Not sure yet, but I figure I might as well look into it.
Oh, Also, since I usually post updates on my workouts and goals I recently switched my workout up alot. My usual routine involves a 4 day split, chest, legs, shoulders, back, something like that, then a day off or some cardio mixed in then again. And I do mix those up alot with reps/sets and rest times, I hardly ever stick to the exact same workout for too long. But last week I mixed it up alot. Just a 2 day split; chest/shoulders/arms, and legs/back, then a day off/ easy cardio(tennis or something). So far I like it, I think it will help my body learn to recover faster and hitting it more often in a week will force my muscles to change and get stronger cause this will be very different from my usual types of routines.
At least that is my goal, I also am forcing myself to run there and back from the gym, which now that the weather is getting warmer, running is not starting to feel like such a chore but I like making myself run a bit over a mile there then lift then run back. My diet right now is pretty good, for the most part it is pretty similar to how I usually eat, about 5 smaller meals a day, mostly based around protein and involving less carbs and almost no sugar or processed foods. Good stuff.
